About A Quiet Space

A Quiet Space is the new image and spirit of the former Movement Therapy Arts.

The practice itself was founded in 2018 and has a long-standing commitment to clinical service, research, advocacy, and education in the fields of grief counseling and medical dance/movement therapy.

The birth of A Quiet Space came from a deepening desire to provide full-spectrum support for medical complexities, life transitions, and grief. A Quiet Space integrates the clinical offerings of community education, health care collaboration, support groups, and death doulaship. This is all in addition to the foundation of holistic, mind-body centered counseling.

Philosophy and Approach

I view my work as supporting bodies in transition - in whatever form that comes.

Many clients face the impact that physical change has on their mental and emotional well-being through illness, life-transitions, and loss. A Quiet Space is just that - a safe place to hold the experience of medical trauma; chronic, progressive, and advanced illness; chronic pain; birthing bodies; end-of-life care, and grief.

Transitions show up throughout our daily lives - not just the big moments. Grief and loss can happen as our place, identity, and relationships shift. The things we imagined that are not, and the things that we chose to leave but need to grieve fully.

A Quiet Space was created to address the needs of the whole person and find creative approaches to authentic self-expression, drawing on both strong clinical evidence and community wisdom.

As a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, I use movement, body awareness, and creative expression to explore the mind-body connection and support a sense of wholeness. I am a certified grief counselor and trained as an advance care planning specialist. I also utilize verbal approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy.

The idea of therapy can feel vulnerable and overwhelming. I use a compassionate, collaborative approach that taps into individual values and strengths, while offering authenticity and curiosity. I honor each person's experiences as meaningful, powerful, and valuable - and wholly theirs. My approach is tailored to you, exploring what creates your safe space.
